Sizewell B not on ‘high alert’
Responding to inaccurate media reports that Sizewell B is on ‘high alert’, EDF has released this statement:
"The fire at Dunwich Heath is not currently affecting operations at Sizewell B power station but we are continuing to monitor the situation - we are not on high alert."
For info, Sizewell B has a fully developed and well-rehearsed emergency plan in place which covers a broad range of emergency scenarios, including a fire on site, and can be activated if required.
Power cut
Due to the wildfire, UKPN has announced a power cut to three postcodes, which they are investigating and fixing. This is affecting 116 customers. UKPN has not yet confirmed when the power will be back on and has communicated with customers.
