Building Community Resilience
Building Community Resilience in Bawdsey – 1.30-5.00pm, the Village Hall
Do you have a spare afternoon to talk with other Bawdsey residents about the
strengths and challenges of living in Bawdsey, with a free lunch and
refreshments?
A group of researchers mainly at the University of East Anglia, and
surrounding universities, and artists across East Anglia are working with local
communities to better understand coastal resilience (the capacity for
communities near coastal areas to confront, learn from, and adapt to
environmental and social challenges). They are most interested in learning from
community knowledge and local people's perspectives. Their aim is to create
something genuinely useful and accessible to better understand local strengths
and community assets. They'd love to see you there! Participating in the
event is completely free of course, and we'll provide lunch, refreshments, and
hopefully some creative/discussion based activities in an informal environment.
If you'd like to attend, or just want to learn a little more, please send a quick email
to Dr Scott Leatham - s.leatham@uea.ac.uk. This helps them plan numbers and
catering. But, if you decide on the spur of the moment to come along, you're very
welcome! Supervised children are very welcome - they will not collect any data
about them at all (another team are working with schools in the area).
